Garden to Market Program

The North Central Wisconsin Master Gardeners Association (NCWMGA) invites community members to attend its upcoming educational program, Garden to Market, on Monday, March 16, from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. The program will be held in the Community Room at NorthStar Restoration Services, 4900 W. Stewart Avenue, Wausau.

Featured speaker Trevor Frank, Crop and Field Operations Program Director and Garden to Market Specialist Faculty at Northcentral Technical College, will share insights on how home gardeners and small-scale growers can successfully transition from backyard production to selling at local markets. His presentation will cover practical considerations such as crop planning, production efficiency, and key steps to preparing products for market.

The program is designed for gardeners of all experience levels who are interested in learning more about growing with purpose and exploring opportunities within local food systems.

NCWMGA is committed to educating and engaging the community in research-based horticulture practices. Educational meetings are open to the public, and attendees are encouraged to come with questions and a curiosity for learning.

The Master Gardener Program welcomes anyone who loves gardening, wants to learn more, and is inspired to serve their community. No expertise required.

Master Gardeners learn and grow as we go, together.

We are proud of the many beautiful area gardens that we maintain. We volunteer at our fundraisers so that we can offer scholarships to college students and grants to local nonprofit organizations to help them with their gardening initiatives. We attend education programs because we want to continue to learn!

Wisconsin Extension Master Gardeners statewide contribute over 103,000 hours of service last year showcasing their dedication to the Wisconsin Idea. In addition, over 28,800 hours of continuing education were recorded last year highlighting Wisconsin Extension Master Gardeners' commitment to staying up-to-date on research-based information.

Our history

Since 1995, Marathon County has offered the Master Gardener class. When this organization started in 1998, it originally included Marathon, Lincoln and Langlade counties. We organized as a corporation in 2007, obtained 501c3 Federal Tax Exemption status in October 2009, and State of Wisconsin Exemption status in January 2010.

For decades

For decades we have held our annual Plant Sale in May, Garden Walk in July, and host Garden Visions in January, central Wisconsin's largest gardening conference.
